Technical Advisory Group B2.04
Electrical Aspects of Overhead Transmission Lines

The scope of TAG B2.04 is provide advice to the chairman of Study Committee B2 (Overhead Lines) regarding issues involving electrical effects in overhead transmission lines. The members of TAG B2.04 are experts who study and evaluate and propose solutions to problems that originate in the line’s electrical functions. The aim or such investigations is to define criteria and parameters for line design and power transfer rating. The advisory group may suggest studies on:

· Real-time thermal ratings and monitoring

· Aging and annealing of conductors and connectors

· Application of special conductors designed for high temperature.

· Sag-tension calculations

· Electrical resistance and losses in overhead lines

· Upgrading of existing lines by increasing voltage or converting to DC
